Phoenix Wing Overview

Phoenix Wing is an upper attack blade whose three sloping wings pop opponents into the air. It was the first truly dominant blade in Beyblade X, and although newer and heavier releases have pushed it out of the top tier, it is still the friendliest strong attacker to learn on and the easiest one to find in stores.

Strengths

  • + Upper attack angle launches opponents up and out of the ring
  • + Forgiving to launch, which makes it the best attack blade for a new player to learn on
  • + Cheap and stocked almost everywhere, so spares and replacements are easy
  • + Still puts up results on Rush builds despite the newer competition

Weaknesses

  • Newer blades have out-weighed it, so it no longer wins clashes on mass alone
  • Its three contact points throw off a lot of recoil, which drains its own stamina
  • Hexa builds such as Wizard Rod 1-60H wall it, and Hexa shows up at every tournament
  • Wide stamina blades soak its hits instead of flying out

Run Phoenix Wing on Rush and launch it hard and full power. 3-60R is its most used build right now with 1-60R just behind, and 3-60LR or 1-60LR strike from lower. 1-50R is a newer low option worth trying. Look for targets you can throw out early, because the longer a match runs the worse its odds get. Avoid Hexa builds when you get to pick your matchup, since they tank its hits and outlast it. The old 3-60P Point balance build has nearly disappeared from tournaments, so treat Phoenix Wing as a pure attacker now. One buying note: Takara Tomy reinforced the mold after early copies had breakage reports, and the newer mold is a little heavier, so a recent copy is the one you want. In a 3v3 deck it is a dependable, affordable attack slot and the blade to hand a new player.
