Wizard Rod is a wide, perfectly round stamina blade that has sat at the top of Beyblade X for years. Its trick is not raw weight, it is weight spread evenly around the outer rim, which keeps it spinning long after everything else has run down.
Strengths
- + Even outer weight ring gives the most reliable stamina in the game
- + The 1-60 ratchet is oval, so it climbs back out of the pocket after hits that would finish most blades
- + Round shape deflects attackers rather than absorbing them, so it walls the top attack blades
- + Cheap and widely available, so anyone can build the meta version
Weaknesses
- − Destabilizers beat it more often than pure attackers do, by making it wobble until it scrapes
- − Left-spin spin stealers can equalize its stamina lead instead of racing it
- − Ball style bits raise its burst risk, which is part of why the meta moved to Hexa
- − It wins slowly, so a sloppy launch has a long time to cost you
Run Wizard Rod on Hexa. 1-60H is its meta build by a wide margin, and 1-60FB is the alternative that is actually growing. The old 9-60B Ball build has nearly vanished from tournaments, so do not start there. Give it a smooth, level launch instead of a hard one and let it settle into the middle of the stadium. Its good matchups include the heavy attack blades, which struggle to finish a round blade that keeps escaping the pocket. What you should fear is anything that knocks it off balance and makes it scrape away its own stamina. In a 3v3 deck it is your reliable survive and outspin slot.
