Flare Overview
Flare is the CX defense main blade from PhoenixFlare, the successor to Phoenix Rudder, with fifteen small rounded protrusions that deliver rapid-hit counterattacks. Its rounded, low-recoil rim lets it absorb and deflect attacks while losing very little spin.
Strengths
- + Fifteen small contact points spread impacts into harmless taps
- + Rounded low-recoil profile barely loses spin when hit
- + Good weight at 31 grams for a defensive blade
- + Strong synergy with the heavy Zillion assist ring
Weaknesses
- − Tall stock 9-80 build exposes it to bursts
- − Counter-hits are light, so it rarely wins by KO
- − Still new enough that its meta standing is unsettled
Run Flare over Zillion so the twelve-bladed metal ring backs up its fifteen-point rim, and bring the stock 9-80 down toward 9-60 or 1-60. Its rare tournament showings actually favor aggressive builds with the Heavy assist and Low Rush, like 1-60LR, over the pure wall. Played defensively, launch flat, hold the center, and let attackers chip themselves out on its rounded rim. In a 3v3 deck it is a CX flex piece rather than a proven wall.
